Test of Quality Using webMUSHRA
You are being invited to take part in a research study.
Before you decide whether or not to take part, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information and the one contained in the form carefully.
The focus of the research is to answer the question:
Is it possible to blindly estimate the speech intelligibility and quality of audio recordings, and use this to catalogue and identify problems in lecture capture recordings?
The intention of this experiment is to understand the impact that different aspects have on the result and
e.g.
- Type of microphone and positioning
- Room design (reverberation time, background noise, occupancy noise)
- Compression used in the algorithms used by the recording software
- Electrocortical enhancements (equalisation, dynamic compression, limiters)
- phase and phase delay
The information provided will be used to train a machine learning algorithm that,
can then be used to identify common problems with the recordings and allow the support team to act swiftly when problems arise.
The voluntary nature of participation
It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part.
If you do decide to take part you will be given this information sheet to keep and be asked to sign a consent form.
If you decide to take part you are still free to withdraw at any time and without giving a reason'.
To withdraw simply write to Rodrigo Sanchez-Pizani to indicate that you don’t wish to participate in the study.
This is an independent study and you your participation on the study will not affect or have any impact on your marks, assessment or future studies.
